The Birthday Post

A whole year has passed since my last 'The Birthday Post'. It's no secret I love things like birthdays and christmas as it's the perfect opportunity to spoil friends and family as I get very excited buying and giving people presents. However this time, it just so happened to be my special day and boy was it! I started out with an English exam and a nap (how exciting!) but then I got to have a really nice bath, paint my nails, get a little dressed up and take a little more care in my makeup application. This year I opted to go out for dinner rather than have a party as 17 is that weird age where a party doesn't feel required.

Anywho! The makeup I went for on Monday night was a little more smokey but still very neutral of course. I did film the whole application but I'm not sure if I want to upload it just yet, time will tell. To start off my base I used my Face of Australia Face Base Primer, followed by Nars Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc, Nars Creamy Concealer in Vanilla and Maybelline Dream Matte Powder. I opted for a sheeny glow with L'oreal's Lumi Magique Concealer Pen and contoured with Maybelline's Fit Me Stick Foundation in 330 and Australis' new AC On Tour Palette that is very similar to Anastasia's offering. I did a subtle blush and bronze with Nars Laguna and Models Prefer powder blush in First Date which is probably my perfect blush shade and I do love a good blush. Brows were quickly filled in with Hourglass' Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette and I swiped some of Maybelline's Super Stay Gel Nail Colour in Mauve On on my nails.

I decided to put the emphasis on my eyes as I decided to not wear any lipstick as I knew we would just be eating and there would be no point in applying any as it would just rub off. I started off my eyes with Nars Pro Prime eyeshadow base which I topped with the Stila In The Light Palette. I lined my eyes with Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Nude, Bourjois Mega Liner and L'Oreal Perfect Slim. I wanted to add a few individual lashes but I ran out of time so I went for my trusty Face Of Australia Impact Curl instead.

In terms of clothes I went for a cute cropped, laser cut detail cream top paired with some high waisted navy blue floral shorts. I love this combo as it doesn't look like you've just walked in off the beach but it's not too dressy either, making it perfect for a casual dinner out with my family and boyfriend.

It was such a lovely day and I'd like to say a quick thanks to anyone who took time out of their day to send me a message or see me on the day, it was very much appreciated.
